It may not seem like this to the naked eye, but it is completely true all the same. The Wizarding World is in turmoil. They don't know this, but they need a miracle.
The largest crime syndicate ever known to the magical community has emerged and began to take hold of what they can. This mysterious group, the ones that call themselves The Seven, are led my the very dark and mysterious wizard ever to come from Ravenclaw House at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Sir Daniel Marsden.
Daniel Marsden was one of the cleverest students ever to pass through Hogwarts castle. It seemed as though he always knew the answers, and he was always was the best at every class. While he grew rather popular with other students, he kept mostly to himself, and his six closest friends from Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Upon leaving the school, none of these students where ever heard about until much later. Two years after they left Hogwarts, however, their school records mysteriously vanished.
Nearly ten years later, there was an incident. A very kind and wealthy Wizarding family were found murdered in their manor in Northern Edinburgh. Aurors at the scene were puzzled, because the mansion had been stripped of all possessions, but there was no trace of anyone being inside the manor except the owner, his wife, and their two small children. They searched the area extensively and found only one clue: a large, fiery numeral seven conjured in the sky above the house. The Seven had been born.
As the Wizarding World welcomed in the year two thousand with open arms, a dangerous new evil was growing ever larger with crooks, thugs, and murderers from all over the Magical Community. Appearing to operate in nearly every continent, the different Ministries of Magic have attempted to keep the public calm, aware of the situation, while still trying to persuade them to lead a normal life as much as possible.
Until very recently, no members of the organization had ever been caught. For you see, each member has the numeral seven branded onto their left palm upon joining the group. It is a way for them to be summoned to Sir Marsden as much as a way to withhold information. When capture becomes too much of a possibility, they touch the tip of their wand to the seven on their palm and die instantly. Most members wear a black leather glove over their left hand to avoid accidental deaths.
The Dementors of the different Wizarding prisons across the globe have little effect on them. While they search through rural and abandoned areas for the syndicate, they are often repelled with the Patronus Charm. Daniel Marsden makes sure each member knows this spell or is able to be taught well enough upon entering the organization, being quite skilled at Defense Against the Dark Arts himself.
As many places have been struck by Marsden's evil, Hogwarts remains untouched. So far.
